Softwood Kindling
15cm Softwood Kindling is the go to for getting those evening winter fires roaring. Softwood ignites quickly, burns hot and breaks down fast which allows the glowing ember layer to then fire up the firewood of your choice.
At Log Shop HQ we like to place a small log or two at the base of our wood burner, build a generous tower of kindling on top and finish with a natural firelighter.
This method is know as ‘Top Down’ and allows your flue to be warmed gently to remove the cold air plug, increase draw and avoid smoke returning to your home. It will also allow embers to gradually fall onto your largest item wood at the bottom making it easy to light.
Note: All weights are approximate as wood and species can vary in weight. Where we can, we fill the box to the top and where we can’t, we fill the box until it reaches maximum stated weight.
